Antichrist’s kingdom is forming right before our eyes. I say that because of the exponential increase in lawlessness, which will later define his coming rule upon the earth. Paul emphasized his character referring to him as both “the man of lawlessness” and “the lawless one” (2 Thessalonians 2:3, 8). Daniel 11:36-39 and Revelation 13:5-18 emphasize his total disregard for all that’s right and good. He will excel in blaspheming the Lord, murder, and tyranny.
Although we see the manifestation of all these things today, it’s but a foretaste of what lies ahead for the world after the Lord removes His Church from the world and with it, the restraining force of the Holy Spirit. Given what I see today, I shudder to think how exponentially worse life will become.
Over-the-Top Lawlessness
We already see dangerous lawlessness in both society and government to such an extent that I cannot imagine it getting a whole lot worse, but the Bible says this will happen during the coming Tribulation.
Store chains such as Walmart and Target measure yearly losses due to theft in the billions of dollars. Flash mobs routinely attack jewelry stores and storage containers looting many thousands of dollars’ worth of items. Such looting extends beyond the private sector.
The Biden Administration gave money that American citizens had invested in Social Security for their retirement to 3,920,025 illegals who had contributed nothing to the fund.[1] Words such as criminal and outrageous don’t even begin to describe such shocking behavior and yet, the media and those on the left regard those uncovering the widespread fraud and corruption throughout our government as villains and Nazis.
If a large investment house managed the finances of its investors the way that the US government has managed Social Security, it would be the biggest financial scandal of all time with its managers serving long prison sentences. Can you imagine such a firm giving millions of dollars, taken from the 401K or pension accounts of their investors, to those who never contributed a penny to the firm? That’s the degree of criminal behavior with which Congress has managed our Social Security monies. (Oh, and that’s beside the millions on SSA rolls who are over 110 years old!)
JB Pritzker, governor of Illinois, recently called for “mass protests” declaring that Republicans “cannot know a moment of peace.” He went on to say that “it was time to fight everywhere and all at once. Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now.”
I never thought I would ever see the day when the governor of a large state would encourage civil disobedience and lawlessness. Will anyone hold him accountable for the destruction of property and loss if life that might result from his reckless words? I doubt it.
Perhaps high-ranking politicians have no other recourse to cover up their fraudulent and scandalous behavior than to call for civil unrest to divert attention away from it. During the past several years, the U.S. government became world’s largest criminal enterprise actively engaging in child and sex trafficking,[2] money laundering, the theft of public funds, and racketeering. The politicians, judges, and other influential people who took part in these schemes have become extremely wealthy as vast sums of taxpayer money ended up in their bank accounts.
These same public officials are now demanding that the President stop deporting dangerous criminals, murderers, and rapists along with others who entered our nation illegally. Why are judges, even some of them on the Supreme Court, fighting to keep villains in our land? How is possible that those appointed to defend the U.S. constitution now vehemently defend those openly defying it?
A recent survey showed that just under half of those on the far left believe it would okay to assassinate President Donald Trump or Elon Musk. What has happened to cause so many to not only promote lawlessness, but to also advocate the murder of those exposing widespread government corruption?
I believe we find the answer in the letter that Paul wrote to the believers in Rome.
Evidence of a Reprobate Mind
Lawlessness, corruption, and wickedness have existed throughout history. There have always been times when people fit Paul’s description of a “reprobate” or “debased mind” in Romans 1:28-32 with some periods of history being worse than others in this regard. However, with all the other signs of the end converging as they are today, the prevalence of the attributes that Paul lists below surely point to the forming of antichrist’s kingdom in our day.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
All around us, we see a significant increase in the percentage of those who have rejected the Jesus as revealed in Scripture and as a result are racing down the Romans 1 path to a “debased mind.” The Bible tells us that this trend will continue until the majority of those left behind after the Rapture welcome the man of lawlessness and buy into his murderous agenda.
Of course, many still adhere to a Judeo-Christian morality with some of them faithfully attending church even though they have not yet put their trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. I believe that many of those in this camp will turn to the Savior once they see the full expression of mayhem and disorder that will occur after the Rapture.
As we watch the emergence of conditions that will characterize antichrist’s evil empire, we ask, “much longer can it be before we meet Jesus in the air? What can we do as we wait?”
What Can We Do?
What can we do as we watch antichrist’s empire rise before our eyes?
We can pray against the demonic spirits that are inciting the dramatic increase in lawlessness and wickedness in America and throughout the world. Ask the Lord to protect our President and those in his administration against the many threats of violence. Many powerful people oppose the exposure of vast corruption in the US government and are actively seeking to derail these efforts by discrediting those bringing it to light.
If we are here for another election, it’s vital that we vote for those who oppose abortion, the LGBQT+ agenda, the mutilation of children via transgenderism. No politician is perfect, far from it, but why should any believer vote for those who wholeheartedly support all that the Bible says is vile and wicked?
At the same time, we must guard against putting our trust in elected officials or in political solutions to cure the ills of our society (see Psalm 118:8-9). Our hope in these last days before Jesus’ appearing must rest solely in the Lord and in His return for us such as the apostle wrote in 1 Peter 1:13:
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Notice how Peter directs our attention to our deliverance, AKA the Rapture, from the judgments that will come at the end of the age. Why would he encourage us to put our hope solely in “the revelation [apocalypse] of Jesus Christ” if such an anticipation didn’t mean that He would come for us before the Day of the Lord wrath?
Our hope rests solely in Jesus and the time we meet Him in the air with incorruptible and immortal bodies. Regardless of what happens in our world between now and then, our focus must be on awaiting the appearing of our Savior (Philippians 3:20-21).
The increase in lawlessness tells us that antichrist’s empire is rapidly forming before our eyes; Satan is actively setting the stage for its arrival on the world scene. After our departure, the man of lawlessness will enslave the world for a short while before the Lord destroys him at His Second Coming.
There’s comforting news for us in spite of what we see: the closer we get to the full emergence of antichrist’s kingdom of lawlessness and death, the closer we are to Jesus’ appearing to take us home. Long ago, the prophets and apostles foresaw the time in which we live. We truly live in biblical times.
